Abstract
A correlation exists between the efficiency of cytological screening program in the USA and improvement in survival rates for cancer of the cervix. Well-screened areas report better results overall and by stage than the poorly screened areas. This is attributable to the increase in early stages that are detected by the screening program. The results from British centers and stage distribution are similar to those of the poorly screened areas of the USA, indicating the need for these facilities if British results are to approach the excellence of certain American centers. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
