Abstract
Treatment of adenovirus type 5-infected cells with daunorubicin (D) at a concentration of 0.05 μg/ml reduced the in vitro virus infectivity by six logs. Mature virus particles were not detected in extracts of D-treated cells by density gradient centri fugation and the low level of infectivity observed appeared to be due to free nucleoprotein. Virus components produced in the D-treated cells were not released into the extracellular phase. Keywords
