Abstract
The low-energy spectroscopy of odd-A nuclei in the mass region A∼219–229 is modeled by coupling states of a deformed shell model including octupole deformation to a reflection-asymmetric rotor core. Theory and experiment are compared for the nuclei in which data are available: ,221,223,225Rn, ,223,225,227Fr, , , and . Overall agreement requires an octupole deformation ∼0.1. The results throughout the region are synthesized to evaluate the model.
