Abstract
Presentation or CaseA 75-year-old right-handed man was admitted to the hospital because of dementia.He was well until seven months earlier, when his family noticed the gradual onset of impairment of recent memory. During the next few months he remained relatively unchanged. Four months before admission he fell and struck his back, without known loss of consciousness or head injury. Two months before entry his family observed worsening of his memory defect, with abnormalities in naming and later a prominent startle response.
