Abstract
ORG NC45 is a new, short-acting, nondepolarizing muscle relaxant that has little or no cardiovascular effects. The use of ORG NC45 was reported in 3 patients undergoing removal of pheochromocytoma. ORG NC45 was selected because it was desirable to use a muscle relaxant that had little or no autonomic effects and did not release histamine in patients with the potential for marked cardiovascular changes. ORG NC45 given to 3 patients with pheochromocytomas caused small increases in plamsa catecholamine concentrations but produced no change in any measured cardiovascular variables. These observations, added to the theoretical advantages of ORG NC45 of having little or no cardiovascular effects, indicate that it may be the appropriate neuromuscular blocking drug for use in patients with pheochromocytoma. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
