Abstract
Using mass spectrometric ion detection, the authors have studied the low-lying Ne(2p514s', 12d') autoionisation resonances by transverse two-photon laser excitation of a metastable Ne(2p53s 3P2) atom beam via the Ne(2p53p 1D2) intermediate state. The resonance width of a fitted Beutler-Fano profile was determined as Gamma (14s', J=1)=(6.0+or-0.5)GHz, Gamma (12d', J=1-3)=(2.0+or-0.5)GHz in very good agreement with values deduced in a multichannel quantum defect analysis of available spectroscopic data. Keywords
