Abstract
In order to clarify the effect of oxidation on the magnetic anisotropy of a Co thin film, a series of samples were prepared by oblique incidence in an oxygen atmosphere of up to 10-4 Torr. To define the degree of oxidation, the ratio between the total amount of Co atoms in a deposited film and that of Co corresponding to the ferromagnetic moment was considered. The defined oxidation parameter was changed from 0.05 to 0.7 by controlling the pressure of oxygen. It was found that a uniaxial-type anisotropy appeared in the film plane by oxidation, and that a rotational hysteresis was observed below 200 K.Keywords
