Abstract
A method is described for the detn. of small quantities of preg-nanediol in incubated liver prepns. The application of this method to the study of the in vitro metabolism of pregnanediol by rat and rabbit liver indicated that these tissues contain an enzyme or enzymes which metabolize this steroid to as yet unknown substances. This metabolism is inhibited in N2 but not by cyanide. The evidence presented indicates that processes of conjugation are not involved. Keywords
