Abstract
The problem of contacts between metals and between a metal and a semiconductor is treated classically with the help of the results of wave mechanical theory of electron energy states in solids. The potential and electron density distributions in the two bodies near the contact are discussed. The bodies are assumed to be in immediate contact. The problem of a body in vacuum and the problem of two bodies separated by a gap are discussed qualitatively. Keywords
