Instabilities of dark solitons

Abstract
Optical dark solitons described by the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation are discussed, and the criterion of soliton instability is presented. This analytical criterion is confirmed numerically for an exactly solvable model of nonlinear saturation.Keywords
