Abstract
Polarization measurements have been made on the gamma cascade in 34S. The experimental results are consistent with a spin sequence 2+, 2+, 0+ with a mixture of MI and 1.5% of E2 in the first transition. The theoretical analysis of polarization-direction correlations with mixing included is discussed in some detail. Shell model assignments for the gamma cascade are given with possible explanations of the mixing ratio value obtained. Keywords
