Abstract
A multivariable self-tuning control algorithm based on the model-following approach is proposed in this paper. Reference is made to systems described by ARM AX models with an a apriori known interactor matrix. The cost function is defined in terms of variance of the norm of a suitably defined generalized error. A ‘detuned’ version of the model-following procedure is also given so as to cope with non-minimum phase systems. The proposed algorithm is finally applied to the self-tuning control problem of a simulated binary distillation column. Keywords
