Adrenal Localization of a Thrombohemorrhagic Phenomenon

Abstract
In rats, pretreated with ACTH [adrenocorticotropic hormones], 9[pound sterling]-fluorocortisol or restraint, a single intravenous injection of thorium-dextrin (Th-Din), an RES [reticuloendothelial system]-blocking agent, produces thrombohemorrhagic lesions with necrosis in the adrenals and liver, as well as hyaline glomerular capillary thromboses in the kidneys. These lesions resemble those of the Shwartzman-Sanarelli phenomenon.
