Abstract
A virus recovered from cell free extracts of strain RPL 12 lymphomatosis, which causes avian visceral lymphomatosis and related neoplasms, was grown in tissue cultures of chicken embryo livers. The virus has a marked cytopathogenic effect on the epithelial-like cells as early as 18 hours post inoculation. Bioassays of the agent in tissue culture showed titers of 10-7 to 10-8 TCID50. Cell free fluids from the infected tissue cultures elicit typical visceral lymphomatosis when inoculated into susceptible chickens. Data from neutralization tests indicate that this agent and strain RPL 12 virus are anti-genically related. One hundred TCID were neutralized by serum from chickens or rabbits hyperimmunized with RPL 12 virus. Keywords
