Abstract
The effect of several newer corticosteroids on the production of anaphylactic shock was studied in the rat and the mouse. Triamcinolone effectively reduced the anaphylactic mortality in the mouse, but it was ineffective in the rat. Betamethasone and depersolon were effective in the rat but not in the mouse. Dexamethasone was effective in both the species, whereas hydrocortisone was ineffective in either species. Studies regarding the mechanism of the protective effects were inconclusive. Keywords
