Abstract
The method is based on the fact that glucosamine is phosphorylated by adenosine triphosphate in the presence of hexokinase, whereas galactosamine is not. Application of the procedure for the assay of biological prepns. is illustrated by the demonstration of D-glucosamine in hydrolysates of a polysaccharide isolated from Shigella flexneri. Keywords
