Abstract
Cytochemical and histochemical techniques have been applied to penicillin assay plates according to methods descr. previously. Cells of S. aureus under the influence of bacteriostatic concs. of penicillin gradually lose their positive reaction to Gram''s stain. This is correlated with changes in the character and distr. of vacuolar material and with the previously reported shift of [long dash]SH to S[long dash]S at the boundaries of zones of inhibition. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
