Abstract
The construction and performance of an automatic amino acid analyser are described. The amino acids are estimated by polarog-raphy of their copper complexes; thus [plus or minus]- and gamma-amino acids, and ammonia, which do not form copper complexes, cannot be determined. The sensitivity of the instrument is similar to those based on the nin-hydrin method for estimation of amino acids, and its accuracy is 100 [plus or minus] 3% for all protein amino acids. The performance of the analyser is exemplified by an analysis of an hydrolysate of insulin. Keywords
