Abstract
Cytochemical localization of cAMP phosphodiesterase in the mouse lung demonstrated enzyme activity in alveolar epithelial cells (type 1 and type 2) and in vascular endothelium. This activity could be blocked by the inclusion of the potent phosphodiesterase inhibitor, isobutylmethylxanthine, in the assay incubation. Biochemical studies supported the enzyme activity demonstrated by EM.
