Abstract
I131 labeled antiserum [gamma] -globulins show no significant loss of specific precipi-tability in the equivalence zone, when the iodine content is below 1%. For most serological investigations, the iodine content is kept appreciably below this level. Labelling of antiserum [gamma]-globulins by combination with S35 di-2-chloroethyl sulfone (HO2) (1.7-18 mole bound HO2/ mole antibody) increased specific precipitability in the zone of antibody excess or in the equivalence zone. The same phenomenon was observed in the antigen excess zone, except with the highest amounts of sulfone used. Results are discussed in relation to the nature of the specific combining sites on the antibody molecule. Keywords
