Abstract
The effects of supplementary oils--saturated and unsaturated--were examined in groups of cholesterol-fed cockerels. Unsaturated oils failed to suppress hypercholesterolemia and atherogenesis. When various oils and fats high in oleic acid were added to the mash, slight lowering of serum cholesterol occurred. Oleic acid per se given to a group was accompanied by a diminution in atherosclerosis. Keywords
