Abstract
SUMMARY: A group of intersterile strains (R-) have been identified in Streptomyces coelicolor Strain a3 (2). They give fertile crosses with other strains (R+) which in turn are fertile among themselves. In R- x R+ crosses the contribution of R+ markers to the recombinant progeny is usually small. The fertility factor(s), which cannot be eliminated by acridine dyes, may be transferred at high frequency in R+ x R- crosses, but the fertilized strains display a low fertility. Keywords
