Abstract
The O2 consumption of liver slices, and the succinoxidase activity of liver tissue homogenates, are significantly higher after rats have been exposed to air temp. of 2[degree] C for periods of 16 days to 14 mos. The metabolic activity of the liver (and presumably other non-muscular tissue) is increased by exposure to a cold environment. The mechanisms involved are discussed. Keywords
