Synthesis and Complex Formation of Six New Unsymmetrical vic-Dioximes

Abstract
Anti-Chlorophenylglyoxime (CPGH2) has been synthesized by chlorination of anti-phenylglyoxime. The reaction of CPGH2 with suitable aryl- or arylalkylamines in ethanol at −10°C gives the unsymmetrical vic-dioximes, namely, anilinophenylglyoxime (APGH2), p-toluidinophenylglyoxime (PTPGH2), o-toluidinophenylglyoxime (OTPGH2), benzilaminophenylglyoxime (BAPGH2), p-anisidinophenyl-glyoxime (PAPGH2), 1-naphthylaminophenylglyoxime (NAPGH2). The Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes of these ligands are square-planar while the Co(II) complexes are octahedral with water molecules as axial ligands. 1H-NMR, IR and UV-VIS data are given.
