Abstract
A brief review of some recent literature on the Locus of Control concept as applied to educational situations is given followed by an outline of the Relaxation‐Suggestion‐Imagery Technique (RSI). The success of this technique with school and university students in modifying locus of control towards increased internality is outlined. Two further studies are described using the Teacher Locus of Control Scale, one with high school teachers and the other with teacher trainees. Results, in addition to confirming the earlier finding that the expenditure of one and one half‐hours on RSI training is sufficient to increase “internality”, also indicated that such modified “internality” may be translated into improved teaching performance.
