Abstract
The percentages of myosin, "water-soluble" proteins, and non-protein N were decreased in the temporal muscle and unchanged in the rectus femoris muscle of male gonadecto-mized guinea pigs. Percentages of collagen and alkali-soluble stroma increased in the temporal muscle and decreased in the rectus femoris muscle of these castrated animals. Formation of all fractions was normal when testosterone propionate was administered. The ratio of actomyosin (myosin B) to myosin (A and B) was independent of muscle, age, and testosterone.
