The Use of 75Se‐Methionin for the in vivo Study of Platelet Kinetics

Abstract
Platelet kinetics were studied using 75Se‐methionin as an in vivo tracer in normal and aplasic rats and in normal man and in patients suffering from bone marrow inadequacy, thrombocytosis, thrombocytopenia due to hyperdestruction. Results are compared with those obtained with 51Cr‐labelling.The method is found useful to measure both platelet production and autologous platelet life span in thrombocytopenic patients.
