The Effect of “Getting along” and Managers' Evaluations

Abstract
The study examined the “getting along” or “chemistry” effect on managers' perceptions. Utilizing Ghiselli's Self-description Inventory to determine traits of success, 42 subordinate managers were evaluated on success and “getting along” or “chemistry” by their 14 supervisory managers. The data suggest the perception of “getting along” or “chemistry” may be important in evaluating career success.
