Abstract
In Folin and Wu filtrates of normal human blood the difference between reduction and rotation amounts on the average to 32 mgm/100 cc. expressed as glucose. There is almost complete agreement between the results of reduction and rotation with plasma filtrates from which glutathione is absent. With the "sulphate technique" of Herbert and Bourne on nitrates of blood, reduction and rotation results also agree within the limits of experimental error. It is concluded that the reduced glutathione in blood is the main cause of the differences between the results of reduction and rotation. The blood of diabetic patients does not differ from normal blood in respect to the differences between reduction and rotation. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
