Abstract
Thirty-seven cases, including 5 personal observations, of histological verified granulomatous polymyositis were presented. In 21 of these cases sarcoid lesions were likely to be present in other organs. Five cases of granulomatous polymyositis Boeck were described in detail. Two showed isolated myogranulomatous involvement. An attempt was made to establish whether a separation between generalized and isolated sarcoidosis is possible. The average onset of the muscular sarcoidosis Boeck occurred about 10 years earlier in life than the isolated muscular sarcoidosis. The histological characteristics of the muscular lesions were identical in both conditions. In view of the small number of verified cases no final statement can be made; however, the granulomatous polymyositis and Morbus Boeck''s disease do not represent different nosological entities. Keywords
