School-Based Teams: An Untapped Resource for Consultation and Technical Assistance

Abstract
For the most part discussions of school-based teams have focused on their mandated responsibilities related to eligibility determination and program planning for exceptional children. However, if teams are going to satisfy optimal cost effectiveness criteria while being recognized by school staff as a general resource, rather than serving a restricted aspect of the schooling enterprise, their functions must be expanded. This article presents some examples of activities in the consultation and technical assistance areas which could be adopted by school-based teams.
