Abstract
A new resonance broadening theory formulated in the Fokker–Planck framework shows agreement with numerical analyses in which particle diffusion in velocity space is studied against a background of prescribed Langmuir turbulence, much better than the Dupree–Weinstock theory. The deviation from the quasilinear theory because of modification of particle orbits is stronger than previously conjectured. Keywords
