Abstract
Purified pancreatic hyperglycemic factor given to normal rats at the end of a period of fasting caused a fall in the level of ketonemia but did not affect the blood sugar. Given during the fasting, it greatly inhibited the development of ketonemia, increased N excretion and inhibited somewhat the rise in liver fat. It did not affect the liver glycogen or the blood sugar. These effects differ from those of cortisone and of growth hormone.
