Midgrowth spurt in height of Boston children

Abstract
A mid-childhood growth spurt in height was found in 17 of 67 boys and in 0 of 67 girls followed from age two years to adulthood. The growth spurt was detected analytically from variable knot cubic splines which were fitted to the longitudinal height data of each child. Ein Wachstumsschub der Körperhöhe zur mittleren Kindheit wurde bei 17 von 67 Knaben und bei 0 von 67 Mädchen gefunden, die von zwei Jahren bis zum Erwachsenenalter verfolgt worden waren. Der Wachstumsschub wurde analytisch aufgedeckt aus variablen Knot Cubic Splines, die an die Längsschnittdaten jedes Kindes angepaßt wurden. Une poussée de croissance en taille à la mi-enfance a été trouvée chez 17 d'entre 67 garçons et chez 0 d'entre 67 filles suivis depuis l'áge de deux ans jusqu'à l'áge adulte. La poussée de croissance a été décelée analytiquement à partir de “knot cubic spines” variables qui ont été ajustés aux données longitudinales de taille de chaque enfant.
