Abstract
A structural equation model is proposed to delineate the various aspects of self-reported job satisfaction. The model specifies structural linkages among four factors including (1) background, (2) perceptions, (3) organizational, and (4) subjective ratings of overall job satisfaction. The proposed model is evaluated by using data from a random probability sample of blackfemale managers living in five southwestern states. The results support the predictions derived from the proposed model and indicate that the model explains 66% of the variance in overall job satisfaction. Organizational measures, in general, account for most of the explained variance. Keywords
