Abstract

The differential decay width of the process

\bar{B} \to ρ l \bar{ν}

is related to that of the process

\bar{B} \to K^{*} l \bar{l}

by using the SU(3)-flavor symmetry and heavy quark approximation. The ratio of the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements is obtained in the zero recoil limit of

ρ

and

K^{*}

, allowing a determination of

| V_{ub} | / | V_{ts} |

, which in turn determines

| V_{ub} |
