Abstract
Theoretical results based on multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock wavefunctions are reported for the transition probabilities of the 5s4d 1D2-5s5p 1P1 and 5s2 1S0-5s5p 1P1 transitions in Sr I. The former transition probability is found to be very small compared to the latter. Since a branching ratio corresponding to a much larger 1D-1P transition probability has been used in the most recent evaluation of the gf value for the 1S-1P transition from the observed lifetime of the 1P state, a re-evaluation is carried out which gives a gf value of 2.04+or-0.05 for this transition. Keywords
