Abstract
In endemic goiter of the Ueles (Republic of Congo, Leopold-ville) an increase of thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG) and a decrease of thyroxine-binding prealbumin (TBPA) were observed. Similar modifications, although much less pronounced with respect to TBPA, were demonstrated in Congolese subjects free from goiter who lived under fairly similar ecological conditions. Pregnancy causes modifications of the same type as those observed in pregnant women without goiter. The decrease in TBPA in these women was also much pronounced than in pregnant European women. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
