Abstract
The authors show how a recently developed molecular-dynamics technique can be used to find the phases of simple metals as a function of temperature and pressure from a first-principles theory of ion-ion interactions. Explicit account is taken of the dependence of both the effective pair interaction and the structurally independent terms in the total energy on the system volume. Preliminary results for lithium are presented. Keywords
