Abstract
A small proportion of the total phosphate in normal bone salt occurs in the form of pyrophosphate. The deposit formed in vitro on incubation of rachitic cartilage with a calcifying medium does not contain pyrophosphate unless ATP is added to the medium, in which case the proportion of pyrophosphate is of the same order as that found in normal bone. Keywords
