Abstract
A modification of the Nicolet and Shinn periodate oxidation method for the estimation of serine and threonine is descr. The details of destruction of threonine and serine during hydrolysis with 20% (w/w) HC1 are given. Serine and threonine values are presented for various amino acid control mixtures and protein hydrolysates. The total aldehyde was checked against the NH3 produced simultaneously. The true amide-N and also NH3 given on hydrolysis of proteins by 20% HCl have been detd. Keywords
