Abstract
Backward scattering in the reaction is studied in the momentum interval 1.0 to 7.5 GeV/c. Comparison of and backward scattering, where respectively exchange and plus exchange can contribute in the channel, reveals that above the resonance region. This result provides direct evidence for the dominance of the contribution over the contribution in the production amplitude.
