Abstract
Measurements of the contrast in electron microscope images show a much greater variation with size of objective aperture than predicted by some of the earlier calculations. Experimental results for an inorganic object are compared with values derived from current scattering theory for the angular range 10-3<α-2 rad, where α is the angle of scattering. Better agreement is obtained, but a significant discrepancy remains.
