Abstract
The authors consider dosage, the detn. of phlorizin in body secretions and tissues, and the mechanism of its action, especially anatomic changes produced in the kidney, its effects in ne-phrectomized animals, and in those with ureteral ligation. They recount the influence of phlorizin upon liver, pancreas, hypophysis, adrenals, thyroid, body fluids and secretions, and mineral metabolism; and how its effect under various conditions upon the D: N ratio and urinary acetone bodies has thrown light upon the intermediary metabolism of carbohydrate, protein, and fat. They deal briefly with the effects of phloretin, with the influence of drugs and poisons on phlorizin activity, and with clinical considerations. This publication has 22 references indexed in Scilit:
