Abstract
An experimental and theoretical study has been made of the instabilities to which a finite electron beam in a finite cylindrical plasma is susceptible. In the linear regime it is shown that azimuthally propagating Bernstein modes are excited. One of the possible non-linear processes involving a beam wave and two electron plasma waves is shown to occur. Keywords
