Abstract
A rapidly and spontaneously reversible Goodpasture’s syndrome was observed after inhalation of carbon tetrachloride in a 43 year old man. The diagnosis was based on the clinical data and on the presence of circulating antiglomerular basement membrane (GBM) and anti-alveolar basement membrane antibodies. It is suggested that the inhalation of carbon tetrachloride resulted in a chemical alteration of the alveolar basement membrane, giving rise to anti-alveolar basement membrane antibodies, some of which cross-reacting with the GBM and initiating the renal disease. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
