Abstract
The rat experiments carried out onboard the biosatellite Cosmos-782 contributed to an understanding of animal adaption to prolonged weightlessness. Postflight analysis studied nonspecific changes related to the stress-reaction accompanying space flight and return to the Earth gravity. Serious functional changes developed in weightlessness including metabolic and hormonal changes, muscle atrophy, osteoporosis and delayed bone growth, decrease of ATPase activity of myocardial myosin and inhibition of erythropoiesis. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
