Abstract
Effects of Kampohozai (Hochuekkito, Juzendaihoto and Tokishakuyakusan) by oral administration on immune responses were investigated in ICR mice. Administration of Hochuekkito and Juzendaihoto for seven days increased the 7S hemagglutinin (HA) titer. But, high dose of Hochuekkito suppressed 19S HA titer. Furthermore, Tokishakuyakusan showed the tendency to increase 7S HA titer and the number of rosette forming cells (RFC). The long term treatment of Hochuekkito, Juzendaiholo and Tokishakuyakusan increased the number of hemolytic plaque forming cells (HPFC). On the other hand, decreased 7S HA titer by prednisolone was inhibited by the high dose of Hochuekkito and decreased number of RFC by prednisolone was inhibited by the high dose of Hochuekkito, Juzendaihoto and Tokishakuyakusan.
