Abstract
Action research is a process in which classroom teachers engage in systematic inquiry to develop new alternatives for approaching problematic classroom situations. In this article, action research is explored in terms of its potential as an alternative paradigm for consultation. Specifically, action research is presented as a dimension of collaboration that has the potential to reduce teachers' resistance to changes in teaching practice as they work to accommodate diverse student populations in most classrooms today. Keywords
