Abstract
Acetone-dried prepns. of limpet viscera were fractionated to give stable powders containing both arylsulphatase and beta-glucuronidase. Irreversible inactivation of the beta-glucuronidase at pH 2.25 yielded a stable arylsulphatase prepn. free from beta-glucuronidase. Total inhibition of arylsulphatase by 0.2 [image] phosphate allows the use of the crude viscera concentrates as beta-glucuronidase prepns. free from arylsulphatase. The inhibition of arylsulphatase by urine can be overcome by precipitating phosphate and sulphate ions with barium chloride.
